1864 Connecticut Civil War Soldier Receives Bonus Payment While Camped at Petersburg, Virginia
This document is a negotiable Connecticut Civil War payment to Wilson B. White on December 27, 1864 while he was camped with the 12th Company of Second Regiment of Connecticut Volunteers at Petersburg, Virginia. It was Wilson's eighth payment of ten dollars pursuant to a Connecticut law promoting recruitment of soldiers. Wilson has signed the document on the front and reverse and it is also signed by the company paymaster Second Lieutenant Reynolds.
