1850s Hand Colored Stone Lithographs of Birds of the West Brown Towhee This pretty little colorful bird was identified on the 35th parallel survey at Bill Williams' Ford in New Mexico on February 5, 1854 and was first described from the specimen captured there. The upper margin says "U.S.P.R.R. Exp. & Surveys --- 35th Parallel" and "Birds. --- Plate XXIX."
