1850s Hand Colored Stone Lithographs of Birds of the West Mottled Grass Plover
This work of artistry is the Mottled Grass Plover or actidurus naevius.. In the margin of the print it says "U.S.P.R.R. Exp. & Surveys --- 32nd Parallel (West)" and "Birds. --- Plate VI." An extensive description of this species is attached to the back of the backing mat included with this print and it states that it was first observed on the 32 parallel survey while "riding on the prairies near San Antonio," Texas. Below is the lithograph as it will come to you matted and in a protective clear plastic sleeve.
