Charles de Freycinet French Premier and Minister of War "French Warfare"
This is an original Vanity Fair lithograph from April 18, 1891 of notable French engineer and distinguished government official Charles de Freycinet who served as Prime Minister (Premier) four times as well as occupying the positions of Foreign Minister and Minister of War. Being a map freak, this is one of my favorite Vanity Fair prints because of the big map of France in the background. Wikipedia has a nice biography of Freycinet with a photograph which shows this caricature to be remarkably accurate. This print comes already matted to a standard 16 x 20" frame size so it will be easy and inexpensive to frame and is enclosed in a protective plastic sleeve. It also includes the biography of Freycinet by Jehu Junior that was originally published with the print in 1891, as shown below.
